Nomenclature of Territorial Units for Statistics
Nomenclature of Territorial Units for Statistics – Excel-Map
The Nomenclature of Territorial Units for Statistics (NUTS) is a geocode standard for referencing the subdivisions (political Administration Level) of states for statistical purposes in Europe.
The current NUTS classification is from NUTS Level 1 till NUTS-Level 5.
In July 2003 the NUTS 4 and NUTS 5 renamed into LAU 1 and LAU 2 (local administrative units). LAU 1 Regions are local government organizations, some municipalities (not in all states defined) and LAU 2 areas are “municipalities or equivalent units”.
Most popular is the NUTS 2 Level (e.g. AT = States-Level, DE = Government Regions, NL = Provinces) for Reporting and Controlling.
